Letter from Miss Dunne

11th May 2020
A message from Miss Dunne:

Dear parents,

I completely understand the apprehension that yesterday’s update from the government may be causing, and all of the questions and queries that will arise from it. As you will appreciate, this was also the first time I heard the information. I will consider the further details of the announcement as they emerge over the coming days.

What is very clear is that we remain as we are until at least June 1st, and I can confirm that:

1. The school remains closed to most pupils. It is open as emergency childcare for children of critical workers, who cannot be safely cared for at home, and vulnerable children, who have made prior arrangements with the school and booked childcare through our booking system. Every child who can be safely cared for at home must be.

2. A phased return for some year groups may start from 1st June. The government has stated that initially this is only Reception, Year 1 and Year 6. I am aware that this will be unhelpful for families with children in other year groups too. We await further information about how this will operate.

I know that this is a difficult time for your children, as they continue to be separated from their friends, their normal routine and schooling, but you are doing an amazing job. Please be reassured that we have already started to prepare plans for the school’s re-opening and that the school and the Trust will manage any re-opening in the best interests and safety of the children and staff.

I will be in touch as soon as I can with further details.

Kelly Dunne
