Letter from Miss Dunne

Dear Parents and Carers

Further to our Class Dojo message on Monday 11th May, we have been considering the school’s response to the Government’s proposal for a further re-opening of schools from 1st June.

We are fully committed to supporting national and local efforts to assist the move out of lockdown. Over the last week, we have been developing risk assessments and plans for a wider opening of the school with staff members, governors and Plymouth CAST.

Our risk assessment has to be sanctioned at a number of levels and I await the final authorisation. However, health, safety and well-being are our primary considerations for all pupils and staff and it is likely that:

  •          The return of each named year group will be staggered with different dates for their return to school. Please do not expect all of the named year groups to come back to school on 1st June.
  •          As per the government guidance, normal class sizes will not be possible, and your child may not have their own class teacher or be in their classroom.
  •          Not all of our staff are able to return to work at present.
  •          We are unlikely to be able to offer the normal school day; start and end times will be staggered and changed.

I want to thank you in advance for your support and understanding. These are exceptional times and we need to work together in order to navigate our way through them.  Our plan for the further re-opening of the school will be communicated with all parents at the earliest opportunity next week.

Many thanks

Kelly Dunne
