Welcome to St Joseph's Catholic Primary School
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School.
St Joseph’s is an inclusive Catholic primary school for children aged 4–11. We warmly welcome families of all faiths and none. Rooted in Gospel values and a strong sense of community, we are committed to ensuring that every child feels known, valued and loved.
Our children
The uniqueness of every child is celebrated at St Joseph’s. We have an aspirational and inclusive culture, underpinned by high expectations and strong relationships. We are passionate about ensuring that every pupil flourishes and develops strong foundations for lifelong learning.
From the moment children join us, we focus on building secure foundations in communication, language, reading, writing and mathematics, alongside personal development and spiritual growth. We prepare our children for their future – academically, spiritually, emotionally, physically and socially – so they leave us as confident, compassionate and capable young people.
Parents tell us their children are “extremely happy”, have “a wonderful experience” and “thrive academically”.
Our curriculum
Our curriculum is broad, balanced and carefully sequenced to build knowledge progressively over time. It is rich in experience and designed to deepen understanding of the world locally, nationally and globally – in the past, present and future.
A particular strength of our provision is oracy. We deliberately develop pupils’ ability to articulate clearly, think critically and speak with confidence. By placing language and vocabulary at the heart of learning, we ensure every child develops a strong voice and the confidence to use it.
Ofsted recognised that we provide “a wide range of experiences” and a “well-sequenced curriculum”.
Our parents and community
We know that strong partnerships with parents are essential in securing the best outcomes for children. We work closely with families to support learning and wellbeing, valuing open communication and collaboration. Our active Friends Association enriches school life further, providing additional opportunities and resources for our pupils.
Our staff
At the heart of our school are the Gospel values of kindness, courage, forgiveness, peace, compassion, justice, humility and integrity. These values shape our culture, guide our decisions and influence our daily interactions.
Ofsted noted that “staff are ambitious for pupils to succeed”. Parents describe our team as “kind and caring”, “providing great support” and “lovely and very helpful”.
Above all, St Joseph’s is a happy and nurturing school, full of laughter, respect and love. We see mistakes not as failures but as opportunities to learn and grow. We would be delighted to welcome you to visit our school and experience our community for yourself.
Best wishes
